The Kingdom of Fife is a very evocative name, but I have to admit it is an area I'm realtively unfamiliar with.  I decided that it was time to start changing that and headed out for an overnight stay near Elie on the coast of the area known as the East Neuk which roughly translates as the East Corner.

I didn't know what to expect with it being my first visit to Elie.  The lighthouse at Elie Ness is an obvious subject, but I had no idea that just a short walk away that there's a much older structure dating back to the middle of the 18th century.

Lady's Tower was built for Lady Janet Anstruther to change for her daily swim.  A bell would be rung to warn the locals to stay away while she bathed.

On my visit there was a complete absence of bathing members of the aristoracy, but the light just after sunset was beautiful.  It was close to high tide and the elements all combined to make an image that I like very much.
