Sometimes I travel to a location with an image in mind that I'd like to achieve.  The reality is that when I get there things rarely turn out the way I'd expected.  That really is one of the great things I love about landscape photography.

On this day in early December I'd travelled down to Northumberland the day before and stayed a bit further up the coast overnight.  The weather started off quite reasonable, but by the time I got down to my planned location near Dunstanburgh Castle rain and drizzle had set in, and of course the wind had to be blowing it all straight into my lens!

Another photographer I met on the day went away without even taking his camera out of his bag.  I'm glad I didn't do the same.  I always try to push myself to make the most of the conditions as they are rather than just shooting in so called perfect light.

Death Rocks as they are locally known are possibly the slipperiest rocks I've ever encountered.  I wouldn't fancy trying to beat an incoming tide over them.
